AI Description

This component enhances the user experience on CMS-based websites by modifying the default search behavior in Webflow. Instead of displaying a 'No matching results' message before a search is conducted, it only shows this message if the user performs a search and no results are found. This approach reduces unnecessary noise in communication with the user.

Key Features:

  • Eliminates the default 'No matching results' message before a search is performed.
  • Displays the 'No matching results' message only after a search query is executed and no results are found.
  • Utilizes JavaScript to check for the presence of 'query' in the URL to determine when to show the message.
  • Includes a simple code snippet to implement the functionality on the Search Utility page.

Design Elements:

  • Utilizes a clean layout that focuses on search functionality without clutter.
  • Incorporates a straightforward user interface that prioritizes user actions.
  • Employs a minimalistic design approach to enhance usability.

Potential Use Cases:

  • E-commerce websites that require a search function for products.
  • Blogs or content-heavy sites where users often search for specific articles.
  • Portfolio sites that allow users to search for specific projects or works.

Conclusion: This component effectively improves user interaction by streamlining the search experience, making it a valuable addition for any Webflow-based site that incorporates search functionality.

Description from Webflow:
You add Webflow search to your CMS based website. The default behaviour of the search page is to tell the user  "No matching results". That's feel off from a UX perspective, since the user probably wouldn't expect to see any results before actually performing a search. So the "No matching results" text is superfluous, and as that plain noise in terms of communication with the user. Idea behaviour: Only if the user performs a search, and no results are found, the user should know that no results are found.
